In my last post I mentioned the impressive machine that digs up the road leaving a cleanly cut trench. I’ve since found out it’s called a planer. I’ve done an ink drawing of the section that cuts into the road and a rough watercolour to show most of the planer. Next week I’ll be working on a more detailed painting.

The workmen are making progress down the road away from Hampton Pier and the sea. The weather hasn’t been very kind and the early nights don’t help. I know I have to do most of my artwork in the morning as I find the afternoons too dark.

At the same time I can see the BoDo vessel out to sea jetting the trenches in the seabed for the export cable. Work seems to be going well with that.
