Kentish-Flats-Extension-Site-Porta-cabin-1-Mandy-Broughton-Artist.jpeg

With any construction project there are the inevitable porta-cabins. They are an essential part of the process and invaluable as offices, canteens, toilets, etc.

I’ve visited the porta-cabins by the roadworks and the painting here is of Martin Flaherty. He works for J. Murphy & Sons and he has a nice warm office even though the weather outside has been cold and windy.

The second painting is part of the outside of the new site office that Vattenfall has set up in Ramsgate next to their existing head office for Thanet and Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farms. It will be used until the extension to the new building has been finished.

Sitting in my car making sketches of activity for this project I sometimes wish I could have a fold-up porta-cabin as a movable studio! It can get quite cold in the car and when it’s windy and raining as well it makes my job that much more of a challenge.
